Limitless...
So, yea… it’s been quite a while since my last post.  It’s quite a funny story behind it though, and I think I owe it to you to share. Let’s start with the “name” of this blog (and my twitter handle) - mADmanRalph - this name consists of my real first name, Ralph, with a twist of mad man which indicates Ralph works in advertising and is a “Madison...

hmmm… Chris Brown doesn’t remember doing it?  Sounds like PR strategy to me.  Instead of covering it up and trying to make it seem different, just TELL THE TRUTH.  I am a fan of Chris Brown, and I’m not hating at all, by the way.  What do you think?

It has been revealed! (what is 230?) →
My previous post about the “whatis230” mysterious campaign has been unmasked! General Motors’ CEO Fritz Henderson confessed, on 8-11, that it was symbolic of the 230 miles per gallon that a full tank of gas (mixed with electricity of course) in a not-yet-released Chevrolet Volt will hold.  230 miles!? Are serious? Apparently they are.  The first installment of 60,000 of these...

Do stars make campaigns hot? or not? →
How does your favorite “star” uphold their end of the deal in their ad campaigns? Judging by the article, linked above in the title (via adweek.com), it is evident that companies use celebrities to push their products/services. It doesn’t always work, unless it is done correctly. An example of correctly, I would say, is when the celebrity is actually used along with the...

Brazillians encouraged to pee in the shower? →
I guess I’m not the only one doing it after all? (just kidding) Is this as ridiculous as it sounds? Maybe not once you hear the reason why. The reason is to conserve the rainforest in Sao Paulo. Individuals can save 4,380 liters of water by doing this! This is just a mere extension of the “Green” movement spanning around the globe. (or should we call it the...

What does 230 (with a smiley face) mean to you? →
Have you seen this “oh so mysterious” ad on your tv or computer screen? Its bright green background, with white letters stands out as the zero, in 230, boasts a smiley-faced electrical outlet in the middle. Weird huh? Exactly what I was thinking! (and I don’t say that often). Welp! Good news! There has been confirmations, as per the article that you can click in the title to...

Old Navy + Marvel Heroes = Success? →
Is it a partnership of future success? We shall see as Old Navy teams up with Marvel Entertainment, during Marvel’s 70th anniversary, to bring you a fresh line of apparel including the likes of Spiderman, Ironman and all the other “mans” of “Superherodom”. (that should be added to the dictionary). This ADventure will run for the entire month in honor of “back to...

Text-A-cab? (everything's going mobile!) →
I knew that it was just a matter of time. I know that many of us are kicking ourselves about this. Text a number. Get a cab. And a confirmation text back. Genius! But guess what!? It’s not in NYC yet! Hmm…

Taco Bell wants to reach more consumers via Social... →
Why not?  Everyone else is doing it.  Right?  While I am keeping my eyes peeled for the next wave of technology advertising platform, social media seems to be the way to spread your brand’s word. It makes sense though.  Your brand is your image, so word of mouth/social media is a great way to build value to your brand and build natural attraction to it. What’s better than that?

That’s what is said in this recent article about the latest marketing strategy from the most popular, Google. They have ingeniously adapted the weak points of other enterprise software programs Microsoft, with their strong points, but in an über simplistic fashion. Who said less isn’t more, huh? *oh yes, and “Going Google” is “Going Green”. Leftover...

Ad Agency CEOs Are Going Back to School for New... →
This blog is about people like me us. As a young aspirant (if that’s a word) of the ad world, this string of somber, debt increasing, ad budget decreasing, hiring freezing, dark cloud of gloom that has hit at a horrible time for recent grads. We work hard for four years (sometimes 4+) with hopes of jumping from the graduation stage onto the beginning stages of our careers. Only to get to...

Communication Is Best Policy →
I usually tell it like it is…Communication is definitely the BEST policy.  With consumers, especially in these days of recession, brands need to be more transparent with their companies’ intentions and practices. I feel that’s part of the reason that individuals are in so much financial trouble these days is due to the lack of knowledge that they have available to them. Not to...

3 Minute Ad Age shows us how to cut costs!
Something to keep your pockets a littler heavier and have a little fun at the same time! I drove a scooter around while in Miami last year, and I could definitely see myself driving around NYC with one!  I probably spent $5 in gas my 4 days there, and parking was as close to easy as you can get. Mad Men
2 weeks from 10pm EST tonight! If you’re an ad man, aspiring ad man, or just love a good drama show you will love Mad Men season 3. Personally, I love the whole swag, excuse the clichè, and the insight on the inner workings of the ad industry of the 1950’s and 60’s. (hence the name “mADmanRalph) Don Draper is the creative genius of the agency and the protagonist of the...
